I detest this holiday

Well....the title says it all. I'm not a huge fan of Valentines Day. I mean, why in hell should people need an excuse (like oh..say...a holiday?) to tell someone they love them? Arg. Call me a single, bitter, girl. That's fine by me, but it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Funny story:
So yesterday at the rec, I was trying to unlock my bike from the rack, and broke the cheap ass key off in the lock. I had to go buy two pairs of pliers (first was too large, so I had to go out again), WD-40, and 3 in 1 to pull the stupid key out of the lock AND fix the lock so it would open/close easier. This morning I got it fixed, and then made the 20 minute walk from my dorm back to the bike to unlock it with my spare key and ride it back. The whole process probably cost me $40 without the cost of gas factored in....I feel like such a college student complaining about spending $40, haha.

Back to my previous rantings about Valentines Day...you might be wondering why I'm such a hypocrite for all this lovey-dovey stuff. Well, lets just say my life has been one boy mistake after another. The most recent one occurred last week. STORY TIME! (again!)

Met this nice guy at the first Fish Camp lunch of this semester. Didn't talk much with him, but he was sitting on my end of the table, and seemed to be a nice guy. That Sunday, I was waiting for my friend to pick me up for church in the morning, and he and his friends were all standing together. I didn't see him, I have a tendency to completely zone out when I'm by myself like that...so nothing surprising. He left the guys, walked over to me, said 'Hi Anna', and we proceeded to make light conversation till his ride showed up. A couple of weeks later, I friended him on facebook. I mean, that's normal now, right? Meet someone, friend them on facebook, internet stalk them, and POOF instant recipe for love! Next day, he accepts the friend request. I wait a week, then message him this cheesy joke and ask if he's got church recs for cs since he'd told me he had visited several. I throw in a casual, 'hey we should grab lunch if you've got time next week!' before signing my name. He responds by sending me his schedule for the week, going along with the joke, and giving me his phone number. Good sign right? FALSE. He canceled one hour before we were supposed to meet Wednesday, and when I texted him to ask when he wanted to meet Thursday, he canceled again. He said he'd 'let me know about next week'. Righto. I'm not a dumbass. My life has been full of crap like that.

That's it for now. Told ya I'm a rambler.

  2. Yeah, but at least I got the broken key out of my lock. It's impossible to be in school here without a bike!
